Manchester Terrier Association

Manchester Terrier 30/10/2020

Well not the news we all wanted to hear and back into lockdown we go, its difficult to see a way forward with all this and I guess we should just go into hibernation until the spring, at the earliest.

It will be very interesting when the show scene does open back up, as there will be lots of dogs who have never hit the show ring before and will be competing in junior or higher classes, will make it fun and generate added interest to all.

The dark nights don’t help the people who exercise their dogs on a night, it just doesn’t feel the same trudging around, when a few months ago we were running the dogs on a night in open fields. As I type these notes it is hammering it down with rain outside, guess we might as well get used to this for a while, role on Summer.

We have had 2 bitches in season in the house, not a problem, but tell me why Manchester terrier boys are the most vociferous dogs in the world at this time. I have had other breeds that will refuse food etc, maybe have a small whine, but been woken at 4 am on a morning, after getting to sleep at 1 am is tiring. Is it just us, or  others the same.

Plenty of puppy photos doing the rounds on the social media, however it brings it back to earth, when you see the oldies passing away, its never easy, they do leave a special mark on us. Janet & Pete Forshaw’s recently lost their 14 year old girl, Liza, she has had a great innings.

I am advised the Manchester Terrier Association calendar has sold out, no wonder with the fantastic photos from around the world.

We all need to be on guard to protect our dogs from theft as this on the increase throughout the country. I read that Three English bulldog puppies had been stolen by raiders who smashed their way into a house and attacked the owner. Three men forced their way into the home taking the dogs away with them.

Apparently the woman inside the property was sprayed in the face with a substance during the raid. Police reports also show that the number of dog thefts has doubled in nearly all constabularies areas. Very worrying.
