Manchester Terrier 08/01/2021

Back in lockdown we all go, if people did as they were asked and remained within the precincts of their own homes and only ventured out locally as the government instruct, we would have been away from this pandemic by now. I see so many people blaming the government, how is it their fault ? It gets me so frustrated to read of people meeting up, etc.. if we all live like hermits for a few weeks, we will crack it. On a positive note it would appear that the vaccination programme is moving on at a pace, Jan been a carer had her 2nd jab, a few weeks ago, so hopefully reduces the risk again in our house.

I set up a Manchester Terrier Judges Education page that is open to all on facebook, it is an area whereby anyone can join and post judging info on the breed or general judging topics, something that wasn’t available prior. It already has 112 members as I type these notes, so feel free to get involved and add your friends. Its not elitist and is for anyone who judges or would like to be involved in judging the breed or has relevant info to share. A book written by Sandy Krijgsveld-Koster about the Manchester Terrier in English, is currently been advertised, with details of how to order on the page. It is available in both paper & hardback. A5 size and incorporating 189 pages dedicated to the breed, it has to be a must have. I am sure this group will be a great place to keep up with the ever changing rules and requirements as we move forward in differing times.

Another page to take some interest in, which is a web page and contained on the Manchester Terrier Association (proposed) site shows many Manchesters in the ‘Puppy to Champion’ sequence of photographs. It is interesting to see their progress. Everyone is free to send in their photos of their champions from around the world for this page. Contact details can be found on the website.

The KC made a couple of large announcements in the previous week and I am sure there will be more to come, no doubt you can read about them further within OD, but briefly there was an updating of the KC C & F regulations, mainly around KC registered clubs and judges. It also announced that the Grandfathering route to judge is now available and the KC is accepting applications.

I don’t think there are many of us who do venture over the water with our chesters, however if you do, you had best start reading up on the new requirements, now that Brexit has been completed !

A year ago at Boston only 6 manchesters present for the judge Mrs Janette Geraghty. She fund her best of breed in Best Dog, Barlows, Talanors Time for Magic. Others were BB, TALANORS TIME TO SHINE AT MANNIKAI (MRS C & MR D STRAUGHAN & CRIPPS) and BP, MARLABLUE MCQUEEN (MISS W & MS E HELLER & HOUSE).

Same show again and Sherril Goodwin judged it 10 years ago. Her Best of Breed was TYBURN LAODICE (MRS GERAGHTY) who was best bitch. Best Dog was RATTUSTRAP BLACK SHEEP (MR P & MISS B & MISS E DALE & SAXTON) who was also best puppy. There was an entry of 16.

Please get in touch and send any info to myself on the breed or dog talk in general, don’t be afraid to mail me with your personal stories, think everyone likes to listen to doggy chat, whilst we remain in these more confining times.
