Manchester Terrier Association


The Manchester Terrier Association Judging List is in 5 parts: A1, A2, A3, B & C. 


The MTA does NOT distinguishes between Breed & Non Breed Specialist.


The minimum qualifications for each part is as detailed below, ( in addition there is an agreement to write & submit a critique to the Canine Press & if requested, also to the club).

A1 List

For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CC’s in the breed
and have completed their first appointment. To have the support of the Club.

A2 List

For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in

accordance with KC requirements and accepted by the KC for inclusion on an A2 list and

have the support of the club.

A3 List

Requirements include:

v  Minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the Club.

v  To have judged a minimum of 40 dogs.

v  To have judged the breed at 1 Breed Club show or 1 Championship show without CC’s.

v  To have attended a seminar given by a KC accredited trainer, and passed the relevant examination on KC regulations and judging procedures.

v  To have attended a Conformation and Movement "Hands-On Assessment" conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited and passed the assessment.

v  To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC code of best practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

v  To have bred and /or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the KC studbook (save in exceptional circumstances).

v  To have stewarded at a minimum 12 shows..

The Judges Sub-Committee are of the opinion that the person has the knowledge and experience and is suitable to award C.C.'s in the breed.

B List

Requirements are:

v  To have 5 years experience owning, exhibiting or judging and have the support of the Club

v  To have judged 15 dogs of this breed.

v  To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC code of best practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

Nominees for the B List will be approved by the Judges Sub-Committee, if of the opinion that the person is suitably experienced and knowledgeable to Judge the breed at Open Show level & meets current K.C. training and qualification requirements.

C List

For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the Club. Listings would normally include persons who have judged the breed at limited and open shows, but do not yet qualify for the B lists.
